Synchronicity is so strange.

I hadn't acted or performed in 6 years; not sure why exactly, but it was a mistake, a big one. Just this week I started an acting class downtown, its a fellow teaching Adler; he studied with her about the time you were at NYU or thereabouts I believe. The class is amusing and a nice little playpen, but I honestly can't figure out WHAT he is teaching. I'm being quiet because its only my first week, but I'm going to have to ask... "Erm, what are we learning here?" He sure talks about himself a lot though.

It is transcendant that the day I resumed acting work you started posting these journal pages. Just looking at your notes reminds me of how beautiful Meisner's approach truly is. How very clear and specific it is; how easy it is to know what is being taught and what learned. It's actually a technique, a tool that can be relied upon consistently, unlike 'the method' which seems to be some sort of notion or conceptual approach.

Jose Santana, you are the finest acting teacher I have ever had. I learned more from the years I spent studying with you than from all the other training and work combined. I am ruined for it as I can hardly sit through anything less again.

Thank you very much.

Greetings Adam!

When I saw your name I thought I was seeing things. Great to hear from you. And of course, thanks for saying such nice things. Funny reading so far in this journal, it is amazing how simple this work and by extension the work of an actor is. Yet how easy it is to get in one's own way. Like life somewhat.

I hope you are well and that these notes can be of assistance.

Warm regards, and thanks again.
José
