Somehow what makes me listen to this woman, what gives her voice authority, is her age. Why, I wonder? Maybe age gives what Lopez-Pedraza calls the perspective of death, and the death perspective (read depth perspective) is what a whole bunch of us are looking for.

Postscript: I didn't even know this positive vibe thing was on the blog. Which brings me to another question: Which is the main page of this blog, anyway? If we want to check in once (or twice) a week to see what Jose is up to, which page to we check into?
Yes, she does have the double "long view" of the past and into a long unknown future. I too feel that “perspective” is the essence of the power behind her words.
Here's something else about this message:
I received it as part of a holiday greeting from the actor Martin Sheen, back in 1974. We had met while I was co-producing a documentary about the closing of Vermont's Maximum Security Prison (the oldest in the country at the time.) He narrated the film for us. And, we exchanged a few letters back then and he sent me this note for Christmas.
This note played a HUGE part in my choosing to pursue the impractical career path of the professional actor. Thus, it also holds the symbolic power, for me, of how exchanges between people do change the course of our lives. And the irony is that I’ve had other chance meetings with Mr. Sheen since then, and he has no idea that I have had an acting career or how he’s influenced my life. Somehow his subsequent major stardom has gotten in my way of letting him know.
Hmm . . .
Yes, I’m not sure that there is a “main section” as they are all “connected/related” in some way. And, I am hoping this virtual environment can have as much to do with what other’s are doing, as having to do with what I am doing.
I’m still learning how it all works. Like learning about other people, it takes time.
I so appreciate your attention to these matters as I have great respect for you on many levels.
